Privacy notice

Maritime Match ("we", "us") operates the website and apps at maritimematch.ph. This notice describes what personal data we collect, why we use it, how long we keep it, and your choices. We handle personal data in line with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
Who we are
Maritime Match is a talent-discovery and matching portal for Philippine seafarers and licensed manning agencies. Contact: maritimematch.ph@gmail.com.
Data we collect
Account and profile (when you sign up or edit your profile)
- Seafarers: name, email, password (stored hashed), mobile and optional WhatsApp or Messenger contact details, home city, nationality, US visa yes/no, availability date, job-search status (open for jobs), vessel-type preferences, short bio, CV notes, present rank and employment preferences, structured sea service, certificate dates, salary ranges you choose to declare, optional CV file upload and optional profile photo upload (from your signed-in Profile), notification preferences, and consent flags for matching.
- Agencies: company name, contact person, position, business email, password (stored hashed), phone, WhatsApp, address, DMW license number, website, city, and company description fields you submit at registration.
Usage on the site and in the app
- First-party analytics: aggregated counts of page views (normalized path only) and named tool opens (for example Sea Calculator tools, MedDeck, Cook Hub, Promotion Reviewer, Captain's Brief articles). These are stored on our server in daily buckets. We do not use third-party advertising or social analytics pixels on the public portal.
- Server logs for security and operations (for example IP address, user agent, and request time) may be kept by our hosting provider for a limited period.
Cookies and similar storage
- Session cookie (
mm_session): keeps you logged in until you log out or the session expires. - Cook Hub guest cookie (
cook_hub_guest_id): identifies guest preview limits for menu and recipe views before sign-up. - Browser localStorage (on your device only, not sent to us automatically): Sea Calculator draft-survey and grain-stability inputs, ORB Entry Helper drafts, MedDeck disclaimer acknowledgment, Cook Hub guest menu counters, and optional currency rate cache for the Sea Calculator. You can clear these in your browser settings.
How we use data
- Operate accounts, authentication, and profiles.
- Rank seafarers against agency vacancies and send match notifications you opt into.
- Show agency users seafarer contact details and profile fields needed to review candidates.
- Improve reliability and understand which tools are used (aggregated usage stats).
- Respond to support and deletion requests.
Sharing
- Licensed agencies: when you are on the ranked shortlist or apply to a vacancy, logged-in users at that agency can see the seafarer profile and contact fields you provided for matching. We do not sell personal data.
- Hosting: the site runs on infrastructure we control or contract for (currently a VPS in Singapore). Data is transmitted over HTTPS.
- We do not share data with social networks for advertising. Links to Facebook open in a new browser tab; we do not receive your Facebook profile through those links.
Retention
We keep account and profile data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal profile data and end sessions. Aggregated usage statistics are not tied to your name after deletion. Backups may retain deleted data for a short operational window before they rotate.
Your choices and rights
- Update profile fields anytime while logged in.
- Turn off email notifications in profile settings.
- Withdraw matching consent by editing profile or deleting your account.
- Request access, correction, or deletion under the Data Privacy Act by emailing maritimematch.ph@gmail.com.
Account deletion
Logged-in seafarers can delete from Profile. Logged-in agencies can delete from Agency account (or the waiting-for-approval screen). Step-by-step instructions: Delete account. You may also email maritimematch.ph@gmail.com if you cannot log in.
Children
Maritime Match is intended for working seafarers and professional agencies, not children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this notice when practices change. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
